I was thinking of reading through the manual cover to cover, and then starting with some kind of a database to see what workflows might suit me best. My question is: what resources are available for users making this transition? It’s disruptive and unwanted, but what to do? I miss the three-pane view, but it seems it’s not coming back, so I have to adapt myself. While I feel very much at sea / lost in the application’s interface at the moment, from previous experience I know I have the capacity to get used to a new interface. Its basic features allow me to organize my research in a way that lets me see big chunks of it at the same time from a variety of different groupings and view options. I did a bit of browsing through the forum here expecting to find many others like me, but it seems a lot of this was handled a few months back among beta users. In the Academic Technology blog Evan Cordulack describes how he uses DEVONthink Pro Office for his research. Many of my old workflows, shortcuts to get to certain menu items, or views and behaviours - all gone / disrupted or hidden. I made the upgrade to DevonThink 3 just yesterday and I’ll admit to feeling quite at sea. DevonThink Pro Office uses databases and tags (which we’ve seen before), to help wrangle all of your files. Really a wonderful piece of software that I’ve considered essential to my workflow and digital life for years. I’m looking for template(s) to use Devonthink Pro Office as an everyday diary - journal, adding documents, photos, even movies. DEVONthink now becomes more of an inbox for all these websites and webpages I am saving snippets from. I can also save things directly from DEVONagent to DEVONthink. Step 1: On the host click Incoming Connections. You set up your Mac as potential host or add direct connections as locations also in Preferences, Sync tab. to use the same research database in a team. ![]() DEVONagent Pro came with my DEVONthink Pro Office license and is an amazing tool for deep searches. DEVONthink Pro Office comes with advanced email archiving functions that transfer selected messages or mailboxes from Apple Mail. ![]() It’s been an essential part of my workflow ever since, helping me write several books, capture the research for my PhD and so on. Lets say I really need to do some deep web searches for some research. I’ve been an enthusiastic user of DevonThink Pro Office since 2008. It stores all your documents, helps you keep them organized, and presents you with what you need to get the job done. ![]()
